Covishield vs Covaxin vaccine: which vaccine is better? Know every small and big information related to this
The third phase of corona virus vaccination has started from May 1 across the country. All the states and union territories are arranging for vaccination of people above 18 years of age according to their vaccine availability and corona cases. The second wave of corona virus epidemic is spreading rapidly in India, in view of this, in April itself, the Prime Minister announced to get vaccinated to 18+ people.
There are currently only two vaccines available in India. However, Russia's Sputnik-V has been approved for the third vaccine and its first shipment reached India on Saturday. The name of the first of the two vaccines is 'Kovaxin', which has been prepared by Bharat Biotech. Whereas, the second vaccine is 'Kovishield' and is being prepared by the Serum Institute of India. Both these vaccines have been prepared in India. Covaccine is a vaccine made entirely in India.
Meanwhile, the biggest debate in India about vaccine is that which vaccine is better? In view of this, today we will give you complete information including availability, difference, equality, benefits and side effects of both vaccines. Let's know about it…
How have these two vaccines been prepared?
Both vaccines are the same type of vaccine, they have been prepared by modifying / activating the virus. Coviculated viral vector is a vaccine prepared by the serum institute. It has been prepared with the help of adenoviruses found in chimpanzees.
On the other hand, covaccine is prepared with the help of inactive viral strains. If you understand in easy language, then dead virus has been used to increase immunity against corona virus in the body of humans.
How many doses of these vaccines will be required?
Two doses are to be applied for both vaccines. There should be a difference of 4 to 6 weeks between the two doses of covaccine. Whereas, there should be a difference of 6 to 8 weeks between the two doses of Covishield. This difference between the two doses of Covishield is implemented following the suggestions of Experts. Experts say that the application of this vaccine at greater odds leads to greater immunity.
How effective are both vaccines?
Talking about their effectiveness, both vaccines are effective. Both vaccines meet the standards of the World Health Organization and are helpful in increasing immunity.
However, with the availability of new clinical data, many more things are coming out. On the trial data of November last year, it is said that Covishield is up to 70 percent effective in preventing the corona virus.
Whereas, it can be increased to 90 percent. The person applying this vaccine has a very low risk of infection. If anyone is getting infection even after applying vaccine, then they are recovering soon.
On the interim results of covicin and clinical study data, it has been said that this vaccine is up to 78% effective. Apart from this, it was also said that the introduction of this vaccine is 100 percent effective in preventing the risk of serious infection and death.
How much is the price and where are these two vaccines available?
Both vaccines are now available for the states and the open market. Serum Institute is giving this vaccine for Rs 300 to state governments and Rs 600 to private workers.
However, covaccine is a bit expensive in this case. For the state government, the price of covaxin is being Rs 400 and private hospitals are getting Rs 1,200.
However, the governments of several states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh have announced to make it available for free.
How effective are these vaccines against new mutants?
New strains of corona virus are proving to be extremely dangerous already. Apart from the UK strain, Brazil and South African strains, the double and triple mutants found in India have raised concerns.
Experts say that both the vaccines do not protect you completely from the vaccine. However, covaccine is believed to be more effective in variants. Its effect against the UK strain has been very good.
Experts say that every vaccine helps you prevent the spread of new mutants of the corona virus vaccine. In such a situation, whatever vaccine is available to the people, they should get it installed
What are its site-effects?
Like many other vaccines, the site-effects of covaccin and covicillin are rectogenic. In the name of most of the side-effects, people have been complaining of slight pain at the place of injection, light fever, headache, stomach pain, nausea, dizziness.
Neurological complication has been observed in very few cases of those applying covics. However, no such problem has been observed in covacsin. There are some problems in applying covacine on pregnant women. By the way, pregnant women are prohibited from getting vaccinated.
Who should not apply this vaccine?
If a person is allergic to formulacial drugs, it is suggested that they do not apply vaccine. If a person has a problem after the first dose, then they should not apply the second dose. Apart from this, if a person has been treated with monoclonal antibodies and plasmas, then they are yet to get vaccinated.
